Our values

AWSA-Be’s key concepts are…

Secularism

The separation of religion and state. Practising a religion is an individual freedom which should not interfere with other individual freedoms. Being secular does not exclude having a religious conviction or practising a religion.

Feminism

To promote the rights and the role of women in society. Being a feminist does not mean to be against men, but to be committed to the equality of women and men.

Liberation

Abolishing discriminating laws and practices so as to enable every person to make their own choices.

The Arab world

The area that includes the member states of the Arab League, from North Africa (Maghreb) to the Middle East (Mashreq) and the Gulf Peninsula (Al Khalij). This region encompasses a variety of cultures, religious convictions, ethnic groups and languages.
